Mention Valley, and immediately an image comes to our mind. The Valley of flowers. The trek from Govindghat to Ghangria alongside Alkananda river is truly an awe inspiring experience. But valley also conjures an image in our mind, an image of vastness. Trekking through this vast expanse alongside a river is always a traveler’s dream. Valleys are sometimes named after river like the Alkananda and Bhagirathi valley in Uttarakhand, the Nile valley in Egypt, the Indus valley, the Hunza valley in Pakistan and countless others in all parts of the world. Valleys have always been a place where alongside human civilization, we find abundance in nature like Gorkhey village at Darjeeling district in West Bengal, The Araku valley which is mainly the home of local tribes, the most famous Jammu & Kashmir valley, Imphal valley are all a witness to the development over ages. In some parts of the world we see valleys adorned with waterfalls, colorful lakes, snow capped peaks, some with amazing topography, some carved by glaciers while some are home to some famous civilizations. Yosemite valley in California, Yangdi valley in China, Napa Valley in California, Khumbu valley in Nepal, Porsmork valley in Iceland, the valley of Geysers in Russia are always a traveler’s paradise.

Trip Tips for Arunachal Pradesh from the ‘Wonder-Visionists’ ————————————————— 1.Don’t forget your authorized permit,the visitors other than natives of Arunachal Pradesh are required to obtain an Inner Line Permit ( ILP ) to enter Arunachal Pradesh. These can also be obtained from Resident Commissioner’s office / Deputy Resident Commissioner & Liaison Offices. Office Location:New Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Shillong, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, North Lakhimpur & Jorhat;Visiting hrs.-Mon-Fri:10:00 A.M – 1:00 P.M. 2. must have some cash in hand, although ATM services were available in Tawang or Dirang.Take necessary precautions against Vertigo.Expect expense. The rate of food is generally 120-150 INR for basic vegetable thali/meal. 3.Check about photography permissions/video filming at any monument.It may not always be possible to view the tribal festivals of Arunachal Pradesh unless it is being celebrated in the local town hall or community grounds. 4.Don’t bye articles made from rare/endangered species of animals which are banned. 5.Advisable to shop at the Govt. Emporia/Fixed Price Shops to ensure quality and reasonable prices. Try to buy from Government stall only for genuine handicraft. 6.Arunachal Pradesh is yet to be connected with the rest of the country by the Rail. The nearest railway station is Harmutty (near Banderdewa) in Assam only 23 km from Naharlagun & 33 km from Itanagar. However, the nearest convenient railhead is North Lakhimpur in Assam, 50 km from Naharlagun & 60 km from Itanagar. For other important places, the nearest railway stations are Silapathar for Along, Tinsukia for Tezu, Balipara for Bomdila / Tawang and Margherita for Namdapha. However AST buses also connect Itanagar to Shillong, Ziro, Guwahati, Balijan, Poma, Lilabari, Jote, Raga, Sagalee, Pasighat, Dibrugarh, Tezpur, Bombdila, etc 7.Losar Festival is held by the Monpas in December and even though it is a little cold, this is a festive time to take part in. 8.Be security conscious. Do not forget to keep the contact numbers of the local representatives and the police stations.Keep yourself up to date with climate, political situation. 9.Major circuits:TEZPUR- SEIJOSA -BHALUKPONG-TIPI-TEZPUR TOURIST CIRCUIT;ROING – MAYUDIA – ANINI TOURIST CIRCUIT; TEZPUR-BHALUKPONG-BOMDILA-TAWANG TOURIST CIRCUIT;ITANAGAR-ZIRO-DAPORIJO-ALONG-PASIGHAT TOURIST CIRCUIT; MARGHERITA-MIAO-NAMDAPHA TOURIST CIRCUIT,TINSUKIA-TEZU-HAYULIYANG TOURIST CIRCUIT & many more unique ones. 10.
