On the auspicious birthday of Kishore Kumar let’s a have a look back at the life of musical maestro. It is believed that Kishore Kumar’s musical journey started with an injury. His brother Dada Muni Ashok Kumar once revealed that a young Kishore had a ‘terrible’ voice but once he cut his big toe at home and the injury made him cry all the time. He would scream always and, as Dada Muni put it, ‘Uska Gala Khul Gaya.’ So this pain worked as the catalyst to transformed Abhas Kumar Ganguly into ‘the voice of the nation’. This serves as a perfect match to his oft-forgotten song about Kashmir. As the pain brought inexplicable raga to his soul so also let all the troubles of present Kashmir will craft her more soulful, panoramic, soothing. The picturesque-post- card splendor of Sikkim had always magnetized the Hindi cinema to capture its unmatched gorgeousness. It was 1967 Dev Anand starter Jewel Thief that manages to have an everlasting impact of the natural beauty of Sikkim recorded on Hindi celluloid. Jewel Thief ,shot at Gangtok, is regarded as one of the milestones of Hindi cinema. Other film Romeo in Sikkim directed by Harikrishan Kaul was released in 1975 and had the central character of the movie played by Shyam Pradhan, a noted name in Sikkim. Can we forget that Twinkle Khanna shoot her debut film ‘Uff Yeh Mohabbatat’ in gorgeous  Gangtok. The actor opposite her was Abhishek Kapoor. The film had very beautiful songs especially the song “Utra nah dil mein koi” shot at Rumtek Monastery. Other than that bewitched Bollywood  was ‘Raja Ki Ayegi Baraat’ by  Rani Mukherjee and Shadbad Khan, son of Amjad Khan. Let’s not forget Sikkim’s own idol  Danny Denzongpa whose successful Nepali venture Saino shot at various places of Sikkim was highly accepted by the audience. It was later remade in Bengali and after that converted into much famed Hindi serial “Ajnabi” where Danny Denzongpa himself acted. Today more and more commercial Nepali, Bengali and Hindi films are shot in Sikkim with production units coming from Nepal, thus promoting Sikkim...
